Staff Profile: Colin Scholz

WFR's Training Coordinator

01/03/2014

Colin Scholz joined the WFR team as a Project Officer in November 2007 with a worksite placement at Barrick Lawlers, near Leinster WA.  Over the next few years he progressed to a Consultancy role, which included travelling to a number of locations nationwide to deliver WFR's Healthy Lifestyle Program.

In 2012, Colin took on the role of Project Coordinator which led him to coordinating multiple projects within the business and providing direction to less experienced staff members.  In 2013 Colin was also given the Training Coordinator role to oversee staff professional development.

A few words from Col...

1. How would your co-workers describe you?
A snappy dresser, and has attention to detail (a little too much at times)
(in a recent office poll, the following words were used to describe Col…structured, professional, outgoing, hairy, fashionista, sporty, dry humour)

2. What is your favourite part of your job?
Getting to see different parts of Australia that I normally wouldn’t see

3. What is the most embarrassing moment with WFR?
Where should I start… the most recent is when I was delivering a practical component of the Dynamic Back Care course. I was demonstrating to a group of people what good manual handling technique looked like, when RIIIIIIP! The seam in my pants split and my underwear was in plain view! There was nothing more to do other than continue the job and enjoy the fresh air. I also now wear less tight pants for such jobs.

4. Who or what inspires you?
My Family

5. Favourite sporting hero?
Golf: Adam Scott, Cricket: Steve Waugh, AFL: still Ben Cousins for his football ability

6. If you were stranded in deserted island what would you take?
A Wilson volleyball is the only thing you need to survive on an island...right?

7. What is your biggest fear?
Not being able to play sport due to illness or injury

8. Any secret talents?
Wedding singer. My song list includes The Gambler by Kenny Rogers. That’s it.

9. Use one word to describe yourself?
Loyal

10. Where do you want to be in 30 years time?
Retired, playing golf at famous courses around the world...
