WFR presents award for the School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science

Since late 2015, WFR has been working with Curtin University's School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science to assist in fostering the transition from education to industry.

And so, we were proud to once again be invited to participate in the School's annual Student Awards to give an overview of how our Exercise Scientists work within the industry, and also to present a student award. These annual awards recognise the students who have excelled in various elements of the School’s courses. 

The ceremony was held in February at the Tim Winton Lecture Theatre. WFR's Managing Director, Steve Gauci, was in attendance to present the Exercise and Sports Psychology Award to Dannie Kingston, who scooped the pool with a total of five awards on the night.  On a side note, ex WFR team member, Kate Shaw, won the award for the second year Master of Physiotherapy student with the highest results overall. Well done Kate!

Steve is also a member of the Exercise Sports and Rehabilitation Science (ESRS) Advisory Committee, which was established by the School in late 2015. The committee provides guidance to determine the future strategic direction of the Schools Courses.  This includes input on changing trends, needs and priorities of the Exercise Science discipline, and also facilitates direct communication between the School and senior levels of industry, government and the community. Steve was invited onto the Advisory Committee due to his professional experience in Industrial and Corporate Health, acknowledging the role that WFR has played for nearly 20 years in this industry.
